Your stop tap controls the flow of water into your home. It’s usually found under the kitchen sink, or sometimes in the hall, under the stairs or maybe in a cellar or garage if you have one.
It’s useful to know where your stop tap is located and that it is working so that you can turn the water off quickly if your pipes freeze or burst.
If you suffer a leak, don't panic - first of all find your stop tap and turn it clockwise to isolate the water supply.
Turn off your heating and open all your taps to drain the system quickly. Soak up any escaping water with towels.
If water has leaked near your electrics or if light fittings, sockets or appliances have been affected by the leak, DO NOT attempt to use these - if safe to do so, switch the electrics off at the mains and then call Moscrops immediately.
